The Constitution and Administrative Law Studies was initiated at PKU Law School some 50 years ago. PKU Law School was the first to set up postgraduate and undergraduate programs in Economic Law Studies, and its Ph.D. program kicked off in 1996. With Prof. PKU Law School economic law discipline has long been put in the highest regards, particularly in the areas of economic law theory, fiscal and tax law, finance law and antitrust law.

Similarly, the Criminal Law Studies of PKU Law School was one amongst the earliest in China to offer postgraduate programs: Master's since 1978 and Ph.D. since 1991.
