01 项目特色
北京大学汉语暑期学校始创于上世纪80年代,致力于为广大海外学子和友人提供走进北大、学习汉语、感知中国的多元平台,以其悠久的办学历史、高质量的教学体系、广泛而深入的中外人文交流活动和丰富多彩的参访实践活动,受到越来越多国际友好人士的关注和青睐,每年有来自30多个国家的300余人次的留学生参与其中。该项目开设四周(7月和8月各有一期)、六周、八周的汉语课程以及商务汉语课程,面向汉语水平从零基础到高级的学生开设多个水平的班级;同时开设系列中国国情和中国文化讲座课程(英文授课),并组织京内、外文化参访活动和中外学生交流联谊活动。
02 课程及活动安排
A. 课程安排
1. 课程类型:汉语综合课、商务汉语课程。
2. 上课模式:北京大学校内线下授课。
3. 课时安排:周一至周五上午,每天4学时。
1)汉语综合课:周一至周五上午,4课时/天,20课时/周。
2)商务汉语课:周一至周五,20课时/周(包含中国企/事业单位商务参访课时)。

B. 课型介绍(所有课程均使用北京大学自编教材)
一、汉语综合课
1. 课程内容:
1) 汉语精读:侧重于提高学生的书面表达能力;通过学习汉语的词汇、语法,强化读写能力训练,提升学生的汉语综合能力。
2) 汉语口语:侧重于提高学生口头表达能力;通过学习口语中常用的词汇与句式等,提高学生的汉语交际能力。
2. 水平要求:
基础班
面向汉语零起点学习者。教学内容主要为汉语拼音、基础汉字以及基本日常交流用语。
初级班
面向汉语词汇量在200以上的学习者。学习基础汉语语法和常用词,提高学员的汉语听说读写能力。
中级班
面向汉语词汇量在1200左右的学习者。扩大词汇量,能比较准确熟练地使用汉语完成生活、学习、工作等交际活动,能成段表达。
高级班
面向汉语词汇量在2500左右的汉语学习者,进一步扩大词汇量,能比较准确熟练、得体地运用汉语,就比较广泛的社会话题进行交流及讨论。
二、商务汉语
1. 课程级别:
1) 高级商务汉语(面向汉语词汇量大于2500的学习者,高级班水平)
2. 课程内容:
1) 侧重于商务、职场领域的专题汉语课程。
2) 将根据学习内容安排相应的实践课程。
C. 开课要求
北京大学汉语暑期学校采用小班教学,每班18人左右。同时,为了充分利用优质资源,同一水平的班级人数不足8人将取消开班,学员需改选其它项目或课程。
D. “对话名师”系列英文讲座
“对话名师”系列英文讲座将在暑期带来系列精心策划的学术盛宴,每周1场,每场1.5小时。讲座内容涵盖多元文化、全球视野、科技创新等广泛主题,所有讲座均以英语授课,详细安排将于入学后公布。系列讲座特别邀请北京大学具有深厚学术背景的知名教授担任主讲人,他们不仅在各自领域积累了丰富的研究与教学经验,也在跨文化交流中拥有独到的见解。在这里,将有机会与学界翘楚近距离交流,碰撞思想火花,拓展国际视野,结识来自世界各地的朋友。完整参加所在项目期间75%及以上场次的讲座后,学员将获得包含课时信息的进修证书,为学术旅程增添一份认可与荣耀。这场学术与思想的盛宴,将带来丰厚的真知灼见,启迪未来的无限可能。
E. 成绩单&证书
1. 学员应做到不迟到、不早退、不缺席。
2. 因故不能上课需要请假(事假/病假)。
3. 迟到或早退3次算旷课1次,旷课一次考试时扣除成绩1分,病假有医生假条不扣分,无医生假条视同事假,事假缺席1次(1次指2学时)扣除0.5分。
4. 一门课累计缺席达到或超过该课总课时四分之一(25%)者,原则上不能获得该课程成绩。
5. 结业总成绩由课程期末考试成绩、平时成绩和考勤三个部分构成。
6. 在结业后,北京大学汉语暑期学校将为达到结业要求的学员颁发北京大学短期来华留学项目进修证书及正式成绩单。
03 文化体验实践
汉语暑期学校为项目学生安排一系列中国文化体验活动,包括中外学生联谊、传统文化探秘、感知中国之旅等丰富内容,让他们在丰富多彩的实践中感受中国的独特魅力。从校园内的中外学生联谊到传统文化与历史古建探索,从沉浸式文化之旅到自然风光之行,学生们将有机会全方位了解中国的历史、现代发展与人文精神。这些活动不仅拉近了中外学生之间的距离,也让学生们在真实的文化场景中获得深刻的跨文化体验与理解,开启一段与中国深度对话的旅程。
04 签证、保险与住宿
A. 来校要求
1. 留学生须持有效学习签证或外国人永久居留证入境。
2. 学生在学期间须严格遵守学校校规校纪等相关规定。
B. 签证&保险
1. 签证:被录取的学生须持录取通知书到当地中国使馆申请来华的X2字签证(学习签证)。留学生必须持学习签证入境或永久居留证入境,并确保在华期间停留证件有效。
2. 保险:学生必须按照国家有关规定和学校要求投保。学生须在项目开始之前或规定期限内购买中国境内保险。
C. 校内住宿
北京大学提供少量留学生公寓(如北京大学中关新园)供项目学生在线申请,先到先得,住宿费用约180元~220元人民币/人/天(不同房型,费用不同)。如果校内住宿已满,留学生需自行寻找校外住宿。对于在学校宿舍外居住的留学生,应当及时到居住地公安部门办理登记手续。报到时须提交住所的详细地址及电话。
05 报名申请
A. 申请资格
1. 原则上为非中国国籍公民。
2. 年龄在18~50周岁之间(含18、50周岁)。
3. 申请项目时已拥有高中毕业及以上学历。
4. 身体健康,对华友好,无犯罪记录。
B. 申请时间
2024年12月1日开始接受申请。其中,2025年6月30日开始的项目将于北京时间2025年6月1日24时关闭申请通道;2025年8月4日开始的项目将于北京时间2025年7月6日24时关闭申请通道。名额有限,择优录取,额满为止。
C. 申请材料(扫描件,在线提交)
1. 护照个人信息页。
2. 最后学历证明或在学证明(中文或英文)。
3. 一封所在学校或单位的推荐信(中文或英文)。
4. 汉语水平证书或汉语学习证明(有则提供)。
D. 申请流程:
关于课程教材确认:
为了更好地给学员匹配合适的班级,在录取后,学员需根据指导完成教材在线试读及确认。
06 费用标准与退款政策

B. 计划退出已申请的项目?【学费退款政策】
1. 6月30日开始的课程(适用于因故申请退出项目的学生):
2025年5月7日前申请,退还学费的50%;
2025年5月7日至2025年6月1日之间申请,退还学费的25%;
2025年6月2日以后申请,不予退费。
2. 8月5日开始的课程(适用于因故申请退出项目的学生):
2025年6月7日前申请,退还学费的50%;
2025年6月7日至2025年7月5日之间申请,退还学费的25%;
2025年7月6日以后申请,不予退费。

2025年北京大学汉语暑期学校将继续为在学期间学业进步明显、表现突出、成绩优异的学员授予“汉语之星”称号以资鼓励(具体办法将在课程开班后详细通知,敬请期待)。

Peking University Chinese Language Summer School 2025
01 Program Introduction
The Peking University Chinese Language Summer School, established in the 1980s, provides a diverse platform for international students and friends to experience Peking University, learn Chinese, and gain a deeper understanding of China. With its long history, high-quality teaching system, extensive and in-depth cultural exchange activities, and rich practical experiences, the program has gained increasing attention and favor from international participants. Each year, it welcomes over 300 students from more than 30 countries. The program offers four-week sessions (one in July and one in August) as well as six-week and eight-week Chinese language course sessions, including Business Chinese. Classes are available at multiple levels, catering to students from absolute beginners to advanced learners. In addition, the program features a series of lectures on Chinese society and culture (taught in English), cultural visits within and outside of Beijing, and opportunities for exchange and interaction between Chinese and international students.
02 Program Courses and Activities Arrangements
A. Course Arrangement
1. Course type: Comprehensive Chinese course, Business Chinese Course.
2. Class mode: Offline classes on campus at Peking University.
3. Class hours:
1) Comprehensive Chinese course: Monday to Friday (8:00-12:00), 4 hours per day, 20 hours per week.
2) Business Chinese Course: Monday to Friday, 20 hours per week, including activities such as visits to Chinese business enterprises.

B. Introduction to the Courses (Peking University writes the textbooks)
I. Comprehensive Chinese Course
1. Course content:
1) Intensive Chinese Reading: Intensive Chinese Reading aims to improve students' reading and writing skills by learning vocabulary and grammar.
2) Spoken Chinese: Spoken Chinese aims to enhance proficiency in oral communication by learning common vocabulary and sentences.
2. Applicable Language Level:
Basic Class
Mainly for students with zero Chinese ability or at the stage of learning Pinyin, familiar Chinese characters, and simple Chinese words and sentences.
Elementary Class
For those with vocabulary skills of more than 200 Chinese words. The course focuses on foundational Chinese grammar and commonly used vocabulary, aiming to improve participants’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
Intermediate Class
For those with vocabulary skills of more than 1200 Chinese words. The course focuses on expanding vocabulary and developing the ability to use Chinese accurately and proficiently in everyday life, study, and work-related communication. Participants will also learn to express themselves in connected discourse.
Advanced Class
For those with vocabulary skills of more than 2500 Chinese words. The course aims to expand vocabulary further and enhance the ability to use Chinese accurately, proficiently, and appropriately. Participants will develop skills to engage in discussions and exchanges on various social topics.
II. Business Chinese
1. Course level: Advanced Business Chinese (for those with vocabulary skills of more than 2500 Chinese words, Advanced Class Level.)
2. Course content:
1) Focused on specialized Chinese language courses in business and professional workplace domains.
2) Practical sessions will be arranged according to the learning content.
C. Course requirements
The Peking University Chinese Summer School adopts a small class teaching model, with approximately 18 students per class. To maximize the use of high-quality resources, courses at the same level with fewer than eight students will be canceled, and participants will need to select other programs or courses.
D. ‘Dialogue with Experts’ English language lecture series
The "Dialogue with Experts" English language lecture series of English lectures will offer a carefully curated academic feast over the summer, featuring nine sessions, one per week, each lasting 1.5 hours. The topics covered will range from multiculturalism and global perspectives to technological innovation, with all lectures delivered in English. The detailed schedule will be announced after the student’s arrival. This lecture series has specially invited renowned professors from Peking University with strong academic backgrounds to serve as speakers. They have extensive research and teaching experience in their respective fields and possess unique insights into cross-cultural communication. Here, students can engage closely with leading scholars, exchange ideas, broaden their international perspectives, and make friends worldwide. After attending more than 75% of the lectures during their program, participants will receive a certificate of completion, including information on the hours attended, adding recognition and honor to their academic journey. This academic and intellectual feast will bring valuable insights and inspire unlimited possibilities for the future.
E. Transcript & Certificate
1. Students should not come late, leave early, or be absent from classes.
2. Students should ask for leave when they cannot attend classes for any reason (personal leave/ sick leave).
3. Students who are late or leave early three times will be counted as having one absence. Each absence will result in a 1-point deduction from the exam score. Sick leave supported by a valid medical certificate will not incur a deduction, while absence without a doctor’s note will be treated as personal leave. For personal leave, a 0.5-point deduction will be applied for one instance of absence (with “one instance” defined as two class hours).
4. In principle, those who have accumulated absences totaling one-fourth or more of the total number of class hours will be unable to obtain a grade for the course.
5. The overall course grade will be based upon three components: score on the course completion exam, scores on regular assignments and tests, and attendance.
6. Students will be offered an official transcript and a Short Overseas Exchange Program of Peking University course completion certificate.
03 Extracurricular Activities
The Peking University Chinese Language Summer School has arranged a series of cultural experience activities for program students, including international student exchanges, traditional culture exploration, and journeys to discover China. Through these diverse and engaging activities, students can immerse themselves in the unique charm of Chinese culture. Students can comprehensively understand China's history, modern development, and humanistic spirit from on-campus interactions with Chinese and international students to exploring traditional culture and historical architecture and from immersive cultural journeys to scenic nature excursions. These activities bridge the gap between Chinese and international students and provide students with profound cross-cultural experiences and understanding within authentic cultural settings, opening a meaningful dialogue with China.
04 Visa, Insurance, and accommodation
A. Requirements for arriving to school:
1. International students must enter with a valid study visa or foreign permanent residency permit.
2. Students must strictly abide by the school rules and disciplines and other relevant regulations during their studies on campus.
B. Visa and insurance
1. Visa: Students should hold a valid X2 visa during their studies at the university. International students must enter China with a study visa or a permanent residence permit and ensure that their stay certificates are valid during the whole length of their stay in China.
2. Insurance: Students must purchase insurance according to national regulations and university requirements and complete the purchase of insurance valid in China before arriving.
C. On-campus accommodation
Peking University offers a limited number of student apartments (e.g., the Zhongguanyuan Global Village, PKU) for program participants to apply for online on a first-come, first-served basis. The accommodation fee ranges from 180 to 220 RMB per person per day, depending on the room type. If on-campus accommodation is fully booked, international students must arrange off-campus housing. International students living off-campus must promptly register with the local public security department and provide their detailed address and phone number upon check-in.
05 Application
A. Application Requirements
1. Generally, be a non-Chinese citizen.
2. Be between 18 and 50 years of age (inclusive).
3. Have a high school diploma or above when applying.
4. Be in good health, friendly to China, and have no criminal record.
B. Application Period
Applications will be accepted starting from December 1, 2024. For the program starting on June 30, 2025, the application portal will close at 24:00 Beijing time on June 1, 2025. For the program starting on August 4, 2025, the application portal will close at 24:00 Beijing time on July 6, 2025. Spots are limited, and admission will be granted based on merit until the quotas are filled.
C. Application Documents (submit scanned copies online)
1. Photocopy of your passport or other personal identification document information page.
2. Proof of enrollment or the highest degree certificate (in Chinese or English).
3. A reference letter in either English or Chinese.
4. HSK Certificate or official transcripts of full-time Mandarin training (if applicable).

B. Planning to exit our program? 【Refund Policy】
1. For courses starting on June 30 (for those who apply to withdraw from the program):
On or before May 7, 2025: 50% refund of tuition fees.
Between May 7 ~ June 1, 2025: 25% refund of tuition fees.
On June 2, 2025 or later: No refund.
2. For the course starting on August 4 (for those who apply to withdraw from the program):
On or before June 7, 2025: 50% refund of tuition fees.
Between June 7 ~ July 5, 2025: 25% refund of tuition fees.
On July 6, 2025 or later: No refund.
3. The above dates and times are Beijing time.
07 Special Note
In 2025, the Peking University Chinese Summer School will continue to award the title of “The Star of Chinese Language Study” to students who have made significant academic progress, outstanding performance, and excellent achievements during the semester as an encouragement (specific measures will be announced in detail after the course starts, so stay tuned).
If there are exceptional circumstances, the above terms will be discussed on a case-by-case basis, and the right of interpretation belongs to the International Students Office of the International Cooperation Department of Peking University.
