Beijing Government Scholarship

The Beijing Government Scholarship is designed to support outstanding international students to study or conduct scientific research at universities or in research institutions in Beijing.

 

I. Scope of the Scholarship

1. Type A: full tuition waiver, housing, living stipend, and medical insurance.

2. Type B: full tuition waiver, housing, and medical insurance.

3. Type C: full tuition waiver and medical insurance.

 

II. Scholarship Duration

Prospective students: the duration of the scholarship is the same as the regular length of time to obtain the intended degree, with no extension or prolonged time. 

Current students: one academic year.

 

 

III. Eligibility:

1. The applicant is friendly towards China, and should abide by Chinese laws and regulations as well as school rules and regulations;

2. At the time of enrollment, undergraduate students shall not exceed 25 years of age; master's degree students shall not exceed 35 years of age and doctoral students shall not exceed 40 years of age;

3. Only for programs with regular tuition fees;

4. The applicant has not received any other scholarship from the Chinese government, other funding domestically, or Peking University (with the exception of one-time non-renewable merit awards);

5. The prospective student applicant must meet the pertinent admission requirements for international students of Peking University, and has passed the preliminary review for full-time self-funded graduate programs for international students of Peking University;

6. The current student applicant should be a full-time foreign undergraduate, master's, or doctoral student of the second year or above at Peking University.

 

IV. Application Time and Procedure

1. Prospective graduate students

Applicants should first submit an application for full-time self-funded graduate programs to Peking University in the fall of the previous year. In the spring of the following year, applicants need to submit the scholarship application in accordance with the scholarship application notice released that year.

2.Prospective undergraduate students

There is no need for undergraduate students to submit a scholarship application. The university will assess and award based on the admission results. 

3.Current students

Applicants should submit an application in September in accordance with the scholarship application notice released that year.

 

V. Annual Review

In accordance with the relevant regulations of the Beijing Government Scholarship, the scholarship students should participate and pass the annual review in order to obtain the scholarship for the following academic year. The annual review mainly evaluates the comprehensive performance in the previous academic year, including moral character, academic performance, study/research attitude, attendance, and general behavior, etc. The annual review is generally conducted in the spring semester each year. Please refer to each year’s latest notification for specific deadlines and requirements.
