Peking University Regulations on Adding

In accordance with the《Exit and Entry Administration Regulation of the People’s Republic of China》, foreign nationals holding a study-type residence permitwho wish to engage in off-campus work-study or internships must obtain approval from their educational institution and apply to the Public Security Bureau’s Exit and Entry Administration for an annotation on their residence permit indicating the location of internship, duration, and other relevant information. To further regulate and guide the off-campus internship activities of international students at Peking University, these regulations have been formulated.

 

1. Eligibility Requirements

1. The applicant must be an officially registered full-time exchange student at Peking University, at either the university or departmental level, with a total study period of one year.;

2. The applicant must already hold a study type residence permit with a remaining valid time of at least six months;

3. The applicant must have completed the study of the first exchange semester, with no failing grades. Attendance must be good, with cumulative absences not exceeding one-quarter of the total class hours.

4. Visiting students for Chinese language studies in their second semester must not simultaneously enroll in major-related courses. Visiting students for undergraduate course studies in their second semester must enroll in courses totaling no fewer than 6 credits and no more than 10 credits.

5. The applicant must have no record of misconduct, no violations of university regulations, or breaches of rules governing international students. Applicants must not have received any disciplinary actions from the university, violated Chinese laws, or been subjected to penalties by judicial authorities or public security organs.

6. The applicant must obtain approval from the relative program department of their home university.

7. The applicant must have already secured an internship position at a relevant company or organization, and the internship content must be related to the field of their study.

 

2. Application Procedures

1. Submit application material to the International Students Division

(1) “Peking University International Student Application Form for Adding Internship Annotation to Residence Permit” (click to download)

(2) Internship Certification or Agreement of the company or organization, clearly specifying the internship duration, location, and content.

(3) Internship Authorization Letter from the home university.

(4) Enrolled courses schedule for the second semester.

2. Approved applicants will receive an Off-Campus Internship Authorization Letter for International Students at Peking University.

3. Applicants must then submit their application for adding the internship annotation to their residence permit to the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau.

1. Application Form for Residence Permit for Foreigners in the People’s Republic of China (click to download), stamped by the International Students Division and the internship organization.

2. A valid Temporary Residence Registration Form.

3. Off-Campus Internship Authorization Letter for Inrernational Students at Peking University.

4 Additional Notes on Off-Campus Internships

1. The internship duration must not exceed the study period at Peking University. The validity period of each internship annotation on the residence permit must not exceed six months.

2. If the applicant changes their internship organization, they must reapply for the internship annotation on their residence permit.

3. If the applicant experiences significant academic decline, frequent absences, or engages in behavior violating university regulations or Chinese laws during the internship, the university reserves the right to revoke its approval for their visa.

4. If a student suspends or otherwise changes their enrollment status during the internship period, they must cancel their residence permit as required.
