01 项目特色

北京大学汉语暑期学校始创于上世纪80年代,致力于为广大海外学子和友人提供走进北大、学习汉语、感知中国的多元平台,以其悠久的办学历史、高质量的教学体系、广泛而深入的中外人文交流活动和丰富多彩的参访实践活动,受到越来越多国际友好人士的关注和青睐,每年约有来自30多个国家的300人次左右的留学生参与其中。该项目开设四周(7月和8月各有一期)、六周、八周的汉语课程以及商务汉语课程。课程包括基础、初级、中级和高级等四个水平的语言班级;同时开设系列中国国情和中国文化讲座课程(英文授课),并组织京内、外文化参访活动和中外学生交流联谊活动。


02  课程及活动安排

A.    课程安排

1.  课程类型:汉语综合课、商务汉语课程。

2.  上课模式:北京大学校内线下授课。

3.  课时安排:周一至周五上午,每天4学时。

1)汉语综合课:周一至周五上午,4课时/天,20课时/周。

2)商务汉语课:周一至周五,20课时/周(包含中国企业商务参访)。

B.    课型介绍(所有课程均使用北京大学自编教材)

一、汉语综合课

1.  课程内容:

1)  汉语精读:侧重于提高学生的书面表达能力;通过学习汉语的词汇、语法,强化读写能力训练,提升学生的汉语综合能力。

2)  汉语口语:侧重于提高学生口头表达能力;通过学习口语中常用的词汇与句式等,提高学生的汉语交际能力。

2.  水平要求:

基础班

面向汉语零起点学习者。教学内容主要为汉语拼音、基础汉字以及基本日常交流用语。

初级班

面向汉语词汇量在200以上的学习者。学习基础汉语语法和常用词,提高学员的汉语听说读写能力。

中级班

面向汉语词汇量在1200左右的学习者。扩大词汇量,能比较准确熟练地使用汉语完成生活、学习、工作等交际活动,能成段表达。

高级班

面向汉语词汇量在2500左右的汉语学习者,进一步扩大词汇量,能比较准确熟练、得体地运用汉语,就比较广泛的社会话题进行交流及讨论。


二、商务汉语

1.  课程级别:

1)  高级商务汉语(面向汉语词汇量大于2500的学习者,高级班水平)

2.  课程内容:

1)  侧重于商务、职场领域的专题汉语课程。


2)  将根据学习内容安排相应的实践课程。


C.    开课要求

北京大学汉语暑期学校采用小班教学,每班15人左右。同时,为了充分利用优质资源,同一水平的班级人数不足8人将取消开班,学员需改选其它项目或课程。


D.    “对话名师”系列英文讲座

该系列讲座将邀请北京大学知名教授在7-8月联合开设8场精彩的英文讲座,主讲教授长期从事汉语教学、科研和管理工作,有丰富的教学经验和中外交流经历在跨文化交流等领域颇有建树。相信您能从中结交四海友人,拓展国际视野,收获真知灼见。

1.  讲座周期:每周1场,每场计为1.5学时,入学后告知具体安排。

2.  讲座话题:中国历史文化、语言学习方法、国际关系、金融经济等众多专题内容。

3.  讲座语言:英语

4.  讲座证书:完整参加所报时段75%以上场次的学员将获得含有课时信息的进修证书。


E.    成绩单&证书

1.  学员应做到不迟到、不早退、不缺席。

2.  因故不能上课需要请假(事假/病假)。

3.  迟到或早退3次算旷课1次,旷课一次考试时扣除成绩1分,病假有医生假条不扣分,无医生假条视同事假,事假缺席1次(1次指2学时)扣除0.5分。

4.  一门课累计缺席达到或超过该课总课时四分之一(25%)者,原则上不能获得该课程成绩。

5.  结业总成绩由课程期末考试成绩、平时成绩和考勤三个部分构成。

6.  在结业后,北京大学汉语暑期学校将为达到结业要求的学员颁发北京大学短期来华留学项目进修证书及正式成绩单。

04  签证、保险与住宿

A.    来校要求

1.  持有效学习签证或外国人永久居留证入境。

2.  学生在学期间须严格遵守学校校规校纪等相关规定。


B.    签证&保险

1.  签证:被录取的学生须持录取通知书到当地中国使馆申请来华的短期学习签证(X2字签证)。学生必须持学习签证入境或永久居留证入境,并确保在华期间停留证件有效。

2.  保险:国际学生必须按照国家有关规定和学校要求投保。学生须在项目开始之前或规定期限内购买中国境内保险。


C.    校内住宿

北京大学提供少量留学生公寓(北京大学中关新园)供项目学生在线申请,先到先得,住宿费用约200元人民币/人/天(不同房型费用不同)。如果校内住宿已满,留学生需自行寻找校外住宿。对于在学校宿舍外居住的学员,应当及时到居住地公安部门办理登记手续。报到时须提交住所的详细地址及电话。


05  报名申请

A.    申请资格

1.  持有有效外国护照的非中国国籍公民。

2.  年龄在18~50周岁之间(含18、50周岁)。

3.  申请项目时已拥有高中毕业及以上学历。

4.  身体健康,对华友好,无犯罪记录。


B.    申请时间

2023年12月1日开始接受申请。其中,2024年7月8日开始的项目将于北京时间2024年6月7日24时关闭申请通道。2024年8月5日开始的项目将于北京时间2024年7月7日24时关闭申请通道。

名额有限,择优录取,额满为止。


C.    申请材料(扫描件,在线提交)

1.  护照个人信息页。

2.  最后学历证明或在学证明(中文或英文)。

3.  一封所在学校或单位的推荐信(中文或英文)。

4.  汉语水平证书或汉语学习证明(有则提供)。


D.   申请流程:

关于课程教材确认:

为了更好地给学员匹配合适的班级,在录取后,学员需根据指导完成教材在线试读及确认。



06  费用标准与退款政策

4.  支付方式:线上支付(完成付款后申请者将收到电子发票)。


B.    计划退出已申请的项目?【学费退款政策】

1.  7月8日开始的课程(适用于因故申请退出项目的学生):

2024年5月7日前申请,退还学费的50%;

2023年5月7日至2023年6月8日之间申请,退还学费的25%;

2023年6月8日以后申请,不予退费。

2.  8月5日开始的课程(适用于因故申请退出项目的学生)

2023年6月7日前申请,退还学费的50%;

2023年6月7日至2023年7月8日之间申请,退还学费的25%;

2023年7月8日以后申请,不予退费。

Peking University Chinese Language Summer School 2024


01 Program Introduction

Peking University Chinese Language Summer School was established in the 1980s. It is committed to providing overseas students with a diversified platform to enter Peking University, learn Chinese, and understand China. With its long history, high-quality teaching system, extensive and in-depth Chinese-foreign cultural exchange events, varied field trips and hands-on activities, the summer school has attracted the attention and favor of more and more international students. Every year, there are about 300 overseas students from more than 30 countries participating in the program. The program offers four-week, six-week and eight-week Chinese courses and Business Chinese Course. The curriculum includes classes at four proficiency levels: basic, elementary, intermediate, and advanced. At the same time, it offers a series of lectures on China's national conditions and Chinese culture (in English), and organizes cultural visits and exchanges between Chinese and international students. 


02 Program Courses and Activities Arrangements

A.Course Arrangement

1.  Course type: Comprehensive Chinese course, Business Chinese Course. 

2.  Class mode: Offline classes on campus at Peking University. 

3.  Class hours: Monday to Friday(8:00-12:00), four hours per day. 

1)  Comprehensive Chinese course: Monday to Friday (8:00-12:00), 4 hours per day, 20 hours per week.

2)  Business Chinese Course: Monday to Friday, 20 hours per week, and including activities such as visits to Chinese business enterprises.

B.  Introduction to the Courses (The textbooks are written by Peking University)

I.  Comprehensive Chinese Course

1.  Course content:

    1)  Intensive Chinese Reading: The aim of Intensive Chinese Reading is to improve the students' reading and writing skills by learning vocabulary and grammar.

    2)  Spoken Chinese: The aim of Spoken Chinese is to enhance the proficiency of oral communication by learning common vocabularies and sentences.

2.  Applicable Language Level:

Basic Class

Mainly for students with zero Chinese ability, or at the stage of learning Pinyin, common Chinese char-acters and simple Chinese words and sentences.

Elementary Class

For those who have vocabulary skill of more than 200 Chinese words. The class mainly teaches basic grammar and daily expressions.

Intermediate Class

For those who have vocabulary skill of more than 1200 Chinese words. The course aims to allow students to use Chinese in daily lives, studies and work.

Advanced Class

For those who have vocabulary skill of more than 2500 Chinese words. The course aims to enable stu-dents to discuss and communicate their ideas on general social topics.

II.   Business Chinese

1.  Course level: Advanced Business Chinese (for those who have vocabulary skill of more than 2500 Chinese words, Advanced Class Level.)

2.  Course content

    1)  Focused on specialized Chinese language courses in the domains of business and professional workplace.

    2)  Practical sessions will be arranged in accordance with the course content.


C.  Course requirements

The Chinese language summer program are taught in small classes, each with about 15 students. Classes of the same level with fewer than 8 students will be canceled, in which case, students must choose other courses.


D.  ‘Dialogue with Experts’ English language lecture series

This series of lectures will invite renowned professors of Peking University to offer eight wonderful English lectures from July to August. Most of the lecturers and professors have been engaged in the related teaching, scientific research and management for a long time. They have rich teaching experience and cultural exchange experience from the East and the West, and have made great achievements in cross-cultural communication and other fields. We believe that, by attending these lectures, you can make friends from all over the world, broaden your international horizons, and gain great insights.

1.  Lecture duration: Lectures will be held once per week and last 1.5 hours each. Announcement of the lecture series schedule will be made after the program orientation.

2.  Lecture topics: Lecture topics will cover content such as Chinese history and culture, language learning methods, international relations, and finance and economy.

3.  Lecture language: English

4.  Lecture Certificate: Students who attend more than 75% of the lecture series will receive a certificate of attendance.


E.  Transcript & Certificate

1.  Students should not come late, leave early or be absent from classes.

2.  Students should ask for leave when they are unable to attend classes for any reason.

3.  If a student comes late or leaves early 3 times will be considered as one-time absence, which will lead to a deduction of 1 point for the exam, except for those who have asked for sick leave and have presented a doctor’s note. Those who ask for a sick leave without a doctor’s note will be considered as taking a personal leave. A personal leave (i.e., being absent for 2 class hours), will result in a loss in grade by 0.5 point for the exam.

4.  In principle, those who have accumulated absences totaling one fourth or more of the total number of class hours, will be unable to obtain a grade for the course.

5.  The overall course grade will be based upon 3 components: score on the course completion exam, scores on regular assignments and tests, and attendance.

6.  Students will be offered an official transcript and a Short Overseas Exchange Program of Peking Uni-versity course completion certificate.

04 Visa, Insurance and accommodation

A.  Requirements for arriving to school

1.  Entry is granted to those in possession of a valid study visa or foreign permanent residency permit.

2.  Students must strictly abide by the school rules and disciplines and other relevant regulations during their studies on campus.


B.  Visa and insurance

1.  Visa: Students should hold a valid X2 visa during their studies at the school. Students must enter China with a study visa or a permanent residence permit, and ensure that their stay certificates are valid during their stay in China.

2.  Insurance: International students must purchase insurance according to relevant national regulations and school requirements. Students must purchase insurance in China before the program starts or within the specified period.


C.  On-campus accommodation

Peking University provides a small number of international student apartments for students to apply on a first come, first served basis. The accommodation cost is about 200 yuan per person per night. If the on-campus accommodation is full, students need to find off-campus accommodation by themselves. Students living outside the school shall go to the local police station for accommodation registration immediately after ar-riving at the accommodation address. On the registration day you must submit the detailed address and telephone number of your residence. 


05 Application

A.  Application Requirements

1.  Be a non-Chinese citizen.

2.  Be between 18 and 50 years of age (inclusive).

3.  Have a high school diploma or above.

4.  Be in good health, friendly to China and have no criminal record.


B.  Application Period

Applications will open on December 1st, 2023. For courses starting on July 8, 2024 will stop accepting applications at 24:00 on June 7, 2024. The course starting on August 5 will stop accepting applications at 24:00 on July 7, 2024. The number of admissions is limited, and admissions will be based on merit until the quota is full. (The above dates and times are all in Beijing time.)


C.  Application Documents (submit scanned copies online)

1.  Photocopy of your passport information page.

2.  Certificate of your highest academic achievement, for example a diploma or degree, or proof of enrollment at your current educational institution in either English or Chinese.

3.  One copy of reference letter in either English or Chinese.

4.  HSK Certificate or official transcripts of full-time Mandarin training (if applicable).

In order to better match students with suitable classes, after admission, students need to complete the online trial reading and confirmation of the textbook materials according to the guidance.

B.  Planning to exit our program? 【Refund Policy】

1.  For courses starting on July 8(for those who apply to withdraw the program)

On or before May 7, 2024: 50% refund of tuition fees.

Between May 7 ~ June 8, 2024: 25% refund of tuition fees.

On June 8, 2024 or later: No refund.

2.  For course starting on August 5

On or before June 7, 2023: 50% refund of tuition fees.

Between June 7 ~ July 8, 2024: 25% refund of tuition fees.

On July 8, 2024 or later: No refund.


07 Special Note

Peking University Chinese Language Summer School 2024 will still award the title of “The Star of Chinese Language Study” to the students with great academic progress, outstanding performance and excellent achievements during the semester (the specific measures will be notified in detail after the course starts. Please stay tuned).
